commented on The White House Press Secretary Next Door
I doubt that's the reasoning. I'm sure being the VP of communication at Seattle U is a pretty decently paying job, but since ex-administration loyalists get plum "think tank" jobs where they don't really have to do anything, I sorta doubt he wrote a book shitting on his former boss simply to get a job.

Even if prisoners had some sort of access to medical gender reassignment (which they don't), it'd hardly be the most financially odious thing about 1) Manning's imprisonment, 2) American prisons in general.
commented on The Art of Walkonomics and the Right to Jaywalk
I would never advocate that people ever emulate NYC drivers, but...
After moving here and becoming used to walking/crossing here, I am always amused when I come back the PNW. Drivers here will freeze up when I do the whole "stand in the middle of one lane, while they continue to drive past in the other" thing.
commented on Alito's Eye Roll
When Samuel Alito becomes a member of a class of people that has been systematically marginalized by a member of a group that Ruth Bader-Ginsburg is a member of, AND THEN the supreme court hears a case on a law meant to protect members of Alito's class from that systematic marginalization, AND THEN the court rules to gut the protections of that law, AND THEN Bader-Ginsburg roles her eyes at Alito's reading of his dissent, then we can discuss the strangers reaction to that event.
