The Most Racially Intolerant Countries in the World?.
@1 is correct. Once you figure out how to ask people if they hold racist ideas without point-blank saying "are you a racist" the numbers of racists goes waaaay up. Look at South Africa, for crying out loud! White people can't go there without other whites trying to get them to join in on racist comments and then being Highly Offended if the visitor refuses. Don't tell me that South Africa is only 10-14.9% comfortable with segregation.
@2 is also correct. A different question would be better. Plus, it is probably very misleading, since the definition of "race" varies depending on where you are, so we aren't comparing apples to oranges across nations here. India, for instance, is incredibly diverse, but their want for segregation is high? Segregation from whom?

We Do Not Trust Photos Anymore.
The National Gallery of Art in D.C. has an exhibit up (or, they did in February) about historical manipulation of photographs. Photos have never, ever been reliable.

SL Letter of the Day: Insane Demands.
Dan, why!? Why were you so nice to this crazy person? This is the first time in years of reading SL that I actually said what the fuck out loud. She is so, so crazy.

Don't Watch this Video of Well Regulated Militia Being Shot to Death by the Police.
@44 You make a fair point. However, based on my familial experiences with such types (stepmom's parents - she's normal), there's also a strong thread of martyrdom in that mindset. In the case of my family, they simply enjoy the feeling of being persecuted and planning for the inevitable government takeover and resisting where they may - growing their own food, buying Glen Beck's books for the whole family at Christmas, that sort of thing. Because they are old and generally satisfied in their personal lives, they aren't going to go out that way. So there must be something else which pushes the really violent ones to embrace the inherent nihilism of their position.

Fiction.
@1 It could be that realizing you have run into a good cop and not a bad cop is a large part of the feeling that a good cop is the best thing in the world. That's how I read it.
