What @5 said. You are a grown up, act like one to this person instead of a timid and compliant child.

There're two kinds of people in the world: those who need spreadsheets to track their attractions, and those who don't. Both are of equal value but the one rarely understands the other.

@9 exactly. If oil is so damned scarce and precious how can they possibly get enough to waste in such huge amounts? By the time the world got to such a level of scarcity cars and trucks with engines like that would have been scrapped for recycling long before. I like sci-fi but this story never made sense.

It seems we need a new intiative to fix some loopholes. Why not allow delivery? I would also like to see an end to local option, which allows communities to ban sales altogether. Texas has local option alcohol sales and there are patchworks of dry, semi-dry, wet, no liquor by the drink, whole bottle only rules that apply to towns and counties. In some areas you can buy booze on one side of the street but not the other. Bootlegging is rampant in a state where alcohol is legal thus lowering tax revenues.

For all of you commenting that those of us who don't agree with Anon. lack empathy or compassion, I direct your attention to the title and opening line of the post. A person who labels every shopper a "selfish piece of shit" gives up any expectation of empathy. Anon set the tone here by angrily ranting and name-calling. Defend your opinion as you like but don't expect people to respond well to being insulted.

@16, I noted other professions as well, which you chose to ignore, so your rebuttal falls flat. Fact is we live now, not in Norman Rockwell time. Grow up.

Yes, and stop traveling because airport workers, flight staff, gas station attendants, bus drivers, rail workers, all desrve to stay at home too. Also no emergencies or on-going medical problems. Discharge yourself from the hospital the day before a major holiday so those health care providers and ancillary staff can enjoy their family time without having to worry about you. Who needs television and radio or the internet during a holiday? Or phone service for that matter?

Millions of people work during holidays, me included. I'm unsupportive of this whinging.
Nov 14 thatsnotright commented on What Are the Parallels Between Birth Control and PrEP?.
The idea that taking a prophylactic therapy such as PrEP is wrong begs the question of why scientists should continue searching for an HIV vaccine, wouldn't immunity against the disease be seen as a green light for debauchery? PrEP is only one aspect of sexual health, as others have commented. and should be taken by men who have sex with men to avoid HIV infection but condom use should still be the norm to protect against STDs. Drug resistant gonorrhea and syphilis are a serious threat to health. Young men should also get HPV vaccinations, which are also vilified by slut-shamers as promoting promiscuity.
