SL Letter of the Day: Did You Think I Was Going To Tell You Not To Come Out? (PLUS: Help Free Kate!).
I feel bad for Kaitlyn, but is it just me, or has the world gone to la la land where all strategies for dealing with systemic injustices are thrown away in favor of making petitions on individual cases.
If the law can put Kaitlyn in Jail for this, and if we think this is wrong, then we need to be petitioning (and hopefully doing more than petitioning) to change the law to make some kind of exception where there is a small age difference, not to get her a pardon.
(another thought I just had; what if everyone in her state made a list of all the people they knew who had had sex with a slightly younger person when they were 18, and tried to get them charged. Of course, it wouldn't be fair to those listed, but if the numbers were high enough, it would show this law up to be as ridiculous as it is).

Slog Overnight.
Firstly; gross (cats lick their ass holes all day)
Secondly: gross (mouth kissing is for lovers, not inter species friends).
Thirdly: gross (and I mean the song).
Also, this is like a two way miscommunication. The cat lady is anthropomorphising her cat so she imagines it's kissing her, and the cat is, well, I guess the word would be felinomorphising the cat lady's lips by imagining that they're cat mommy tits, so I guess they're exploiting one another. But gross.

On a Wall in Pioneer Square.
Until we, as a society take full responsibility for every child and its development, (as opposed to leaving it up to the parents who, by the way don't need any qualifications to breed), and then leaving it up to the individual to take measures to be a better person all on their own, without guidance, there will continue to be damaged adults who go around raping, assaulting, and otherwise harming other people.
As long as we live in a "mind your own business" society, nasty human beings will develop.
As long as this is the case, we'll need to take measures to protect ourselves from these people who would do us harm.

I, Anonymous.
@19. Like his commentary or not Arthur Ziffrelli is an institution within I anon. I, like many others, am a sucker for repetition, and I get a little down if an I Anon has no reference to COCAINE and MALT LIQUOR.
(I don't even know why - cause it means nothing. It just presses on my "haha wtf" button I guess).

The Stranger Hasn't Gotten a Copy of Amanda Knox's Memoir Yet, But The New Yorker Has.
@24. I didn't know 'sex positive' was about doing the same old shit (reminding women that men view them nothing but fuck things for their consumption).
The only people being liberated by your version of "sex positive" is you Fifty_two_eighty and his dick, (I only found out now that he's apparently a dude), not the women who are creeped out by it in the same way that we've been getting creeped out by it for centuries.
Most women know that when men remind us that we're seen as fuck objects that it is an age old tactic used to rob us of power, and remind us that anything we say is unlikely to be listened to.

Owner of Village Green Nursery Regrets Friday's Michelle Shocked Performance.
What @3 (TVDinner) said.
It's great to see someone publicly admit being wrong - it happens too infrequently. I'm sure this statement will inspire and empower others in similar situations to do the same.
Bad judgements are often made under time pressure.
(Not that I had a position on her choice to give Shocked a platform in the first place).
It's good to be the kind of person who gives people second chances, even if they blow them, as Michelle apparently did.
When I was 18, (legal adult in all things where I live) the only laws I gave a second thought about were drug laws.
I wonder how well informed teens are about this stuff.
