Truly disturbing to know that his whole process has been a ruse hidden in great craftsmanship...ironic that his true art is now known to be veiled deception and personal dysfunction...thanks for the coverage. I frankly look forward to his reaction to the piece.

Thanks for this post, Jen. I am like you, and also can't get enough...years ago, the Cleveland Public Art Commission which I worked with early on, had been able to get a lengthy temporary lease/loan for one of the major cast metal and glass mother spiders, and I have always hoped one of them would wind up permanently somewhere near me...putting it out to the world!

Enforcing existing laws, in the meantime, would be a start. AND making health care, INCLUDING mental health care available to all NOW will also help immensely. This, more than a gun issue, is so hugely also an unaddressed social issue that needs fixing in our local AND global culture.

censorship can have lengthy implications and energy. I would like to see this work in a gallery or other forum, and make up my own mind. I was curator in a homophobic art debacle a bit ago on Vashon Island, purportedly a bastion of open-mindedness, and still carry a bit of "recognition" on the part of the paranoid on this rock who remember and still wish I would disappear. Minority, yes, but ever present. Another example of others wanting the power to help you make up YOUR own mind....I would like the print to stay, and be part of the discussion.

Love her work. so few viewing the fountain realize the voyeuristic granite eyeball benches are part of the piece...I wish we had one of the bronze mother-spiders as well...

Indeed they should! I so greatly enjoy all of those installations. And to so thoughtfully archive them is truly a goal all galleries and venues should aspire to; art should have it's own history available, and if it's truly good art, it should remain vital in time passage.
