Dan, Brave of you to publicly take on the hypocrisy of religion and the bible. The religious right has convinced Americans they are beyond reproach because 'the speak for God' .... to take issue with anything they say means you are being blasphemous. It's just not socially acceptable to believe the bible is not the absolute word of God (which I've been saying for years!)

The scary thing is, they have deluded everyone into believing they speak for God and so they've effectively silenced their critics. How dare anyone speak against them/god?! They are the American Taliban. It scares the shit out of me that this country is moving closer to a union of church and state, instead of the separation we need to ensure equality for all.

Thanks for taking this on. I support you ... but I worry about the hatred they throw at you. I have no public venue but I forward your tweets and speak out in my small way.

For any Christian haters scanning the comments ... would it help to remind you that Jesus promoted love and equality? and FYI, you don't speak for God - that is a blasphemous assumption.

Dan, In a recent column you advised a woman not to put quotes around the word "wife", because it feeds into bigoted views that two women can't really be married. I think you made the equivalent mistake on this podcast when you prolonged pronunciation of the word huuuuusband when referring to Terry. You sound embarrassed to be using the word ... so If you feel that he's your husband, be proud of it.
