SL Letter of the Day: Mind Control.
@5, I don't think it's a label of attractiveness, it's more about power. If a hypnotist can turn a straight guy into his gay slave, that just proves how powerful and awesome a mind controller he is.

How to Make SLU an Affordable Neighborhood.
@9 Quit trying to turn Rainier Valley into a ghetto damnit! People are always tring to push what they don't want next door to the Rainier Valley. Yes, more affordable housing would be great down there, but how about some in Ballard? Or more up on Capital hill and downtown? We need to increase density and have a good mix of housing styles and levels all over the city.

Which Is The Best Star Trek Series?.
@48 Farscape is worth it, and the others are right, the first season is choppy but when Scorpy shows up things start to get good.
And while we are talking about alternatives to Star Trek, let me just pour a 40 oz'er on the ground for my dear departed Firefly. You died too soon.

Sneak Peek at the Seattle Water Bears' Metropolitans' New Arena.
can't use Orcas, Vancouver's logo is fricking Orca breaking out of the ice. We got beat to the punch, damnit anyways
Not Metropolitans, people would call them the Metro's and other people would wonder why we named our team after our bus transit system or after well dressed straight men.
The Angry Animal Naming Convention will not steer us wrong. Go Seattle Wolves! Or Steelhead, or Chinook, Elk, Grizzlies- anything as long as it's pissed off

Which Is The Best Star Trek Series?.
Voyager was the worst. This is the series that turned what was a lame crutch of the holodeck and turned it into the ultimate terrifying cesspool of lazy and stupid writing. Even worse the episodes of TNG devoted to Data's cat.
Voyager did have some good moments but really, awful writing and character development. DS9 followed by TNG are the best.
If you want to see what Voyager could have been, check out Farscape. Thats being shot though a wormhole done right!
And the Stargate stuff- pretty solid sci-fi adventure
