I can explain it if anyone is actually interested. Since so many LGBT people have been excluded from many Christian denominations, and since this church is welcoming and affirming to the LGBT community, they want people who come in the doors to know that God loves them, just as they are, Just as they were created. No need to be in the closet to be accepted. They don't have to "earn" God's love. It exists because they exist.

Dan, you have the most fun of any adult I know of. What kind of sin do I need to commit so I can insure that I go to the same hell you are going to when I die? Because wherever you are going is going to be a hell of a good time.

Our culture as a whole is not enlightened enough to "get" anything other than the binary. Fuck our culture. Be who you are. Explain to your friends, what they need to know. Dress whatever way makes you feel good about yourself. And give yourself time to explore who you are. It is a long journey.

Last year we were camping in that area, and left when the area became a level 2 evacuation. The smoke was so bad then that we would have left anyway. It was so hard to breath, our eyes were stinging and it was hard to see very far. I can hardly imagine how much worse it is this year.

I hope the rain predicted for tomorrow makes its way across the mountains to where it is really needed.

The more I research the Quiverfull cult, the more disgusted I get. The way it is structured is pretty much guaranteed to allow boys and men to victimize girls and women. And get away with it, for the most part. Any child raised that way is completely brainwashed by the time they reach adulthood.

Maybe now that the world is watching, Josh Duggar will finally get some real, legitimate therapy. With real legitimate licensed practitioners. He needs it. They all do.

Do the new hires get any kind of a warning about what it is like in that office before they hire on?

Parking is so tight now on Cap Hill, that when I go to visit, I have to spend 10 minutes cruising the neighborhood to try and find somewhere to park. Usually blocks away from where I'm visiting. Where is all this supposed "unused" available parking? If streets are jammed with cars, then more parking needs to be added, not taken away.

If nothing else, the comments section made for fun reading on this one.

Obama was a member of a UCC church in Chicago. (United Church of Christ). While each church chooses individually whether or not to be Open and Affirming, the denomination in general is, and is very supportive of the LGBTQ community.

I don't know if his church was ONA, but I do know he has addressed our General Synod, and was supportive at that time. This was before he ran for President. After he announced his candidacy, the GOP tried to strip the tax exempt status of the UCC because they thought his speech was political. Clearly they didn't even bother to actually listen to his speech. And considering how many conservative churches push politics from behind the pulpit, that is pretty ironic.

Thank you for this article. It gives voice to many things I have felt, but didn't have words for.

For those of you who didn't get anything out of the article, I have a question. Is it only and all about YOU? It seems as if everything has to fit your worldview or it wasn't worth the space it was given. If anyone got something out of this article, even if it was only the writer, it was worth writing. A little more tolerance of other's needs and differences would be good here. Or do you really need to tear down others in order to build your own self esteem?
