"Maybe art programs should require a short a occupational safety course on all aspects of life as a working artist?" Real art programs do that.

Or maybe "I could build that shit myself how hard could it be" is a lot like "I don't vaccinate my kids." These libertarian assholes who take guns and hole up in a bird sanctuary are morons who think they're smarter than everybody, and can just run out and do everything their way. Who needs all that education to know which land you can graze your cattle on? Lawyers, am I right!

Artists are libertarian assholes too. Read a 600 page building code? Who has the time? That's for square, like, professional builders. Fuck them. I'm a smart artist I know how to do it myself. I read this website, same one that said I don't need to vaccinate my kids.

You know the reason we don't ALL die in a fire is because most of our buildings are made to code, and so every fire doesn't destroy the whole city, like what happened in the "Great Fire of ". Just like the reason we don't all die in an epidemic is because most people are vaccinated, unlike in the "Great Epidemic of ".

This stuff is connected. If you think you can run out and make decisions that people spend years becoming qualified to make because you're, like, plucky or some shit, you're probably an asshole.

I love these rules! Most. Helpful. Tips. Ever!!!!!!!!!

I wish somebody had written these down before. Think of all the lives that could have been saved if only people KNEW what you could do to not die in a fire. They should have some kind of publication you could get that would tell you these things. They could take all these "life hacks" for spaces and put them in some kind of like, instructional sort of manual. They could call it the "rulz for making places you live in." Or buildings, I guess you call them. The "rulz for building stuff."

Oh wait! I know. Not rulz, that's too ghetto. Call them the CODE. That's legit. Fucking legit. They could write down all the shit you do so you don't DIE IN A FUCKING FIRE and put it in a book that everybody can read and call it the FUCKING BUILDING CODE.

Holy shit I'm a fucking genius. The Building Code! Gosh, it sounds so cool. You could even have people whose job is to make assholes follow the building code. Then you could enforce that motherfucker. Think of all the lives that would be saved!

I give most of the credit to Kimya "I don't vaccinate my kids" Dawson and David Segal. But me too because this is such a sick idea. I can't believe nobody thought... oh, wait I just checked Hammurabi thought of it first. In 1754 BC.

Still. It's a fucking good idea.

Greens don't give a fuck how Democrats feel about what they do. Like Republicans, they get themselves a recount when it serves their own purposes, and when other parties whine, it's only so much noise as far as they're concerned.

Democrats can't figure out why the Greens don't try harder to make the other parties like them. Especially why they don't try to curry favor with Democrats, they way Democrats try to get Republicans to like them. That's not the Greens; that's you, fuckers. You Democrats are the ones who are too afraid to demand a recount because then the other party might say bad things about you. You have that problem. Greens? No. They don't have that problem. They don't give a fuck how much you grouse and fuss. They have their own agenda. If they had the same agenda as you, they wouldn't be a whole other party.

Get that through your head and you'll have a much easier time understanding why they do what they do. Democrats need to stop worrying about what the Greens do or don't do and get to work themselves. Go get a recount on your own. Don't stand back hoping some other party does it for you, and then bitch because they're not doing it the way you would have.

Our long national nightmare of peace and prosperity is over. Back to Republican unemployment, market crashes and terrorist attacks.

"You can't give what you never owned... "

The reason cities have the right to limit not just height, but setbacks, parking and almost everything you can think of about new construction is that new construction can either add or subtract wealth from existing property. The value of the lot they propose to build on is derived from tangible and intangible city services, and the proximity of all the surrounding property. That gives the collective -- that is, the people, represented by their government -- the right to limit building heights, and demand something in exchange before they raise them.

Don't like the collectivism of zoning? It's a free country: build whatever you like on unincorporated land, which is orders of magnitude cheaper. Did you buy city property without understanding the zoning and the zoning politics of that land? Due diligence, dumbass. Caveat emptor.

Jesus, "a week's worth of food" is just an EXAMPLE of a major trip, not that everyone LITERALLY shops exactly like that for groceries and only groceries. Maybe it's some other stuff that you get. Beer. A crate of library books. Maybe it's your 80 pound kid that you shuttle to and from whatever thing your kid goes to. School, let's say. Lot of kids these days are all into school. It doesn't matter what it is. If biking is only for people who aren't schlepping more than a messenger bag full of artisinal mustache wax, then biking is only for 4% of commuters, and nobody else.

Even so, when you say, "no one who bikes regularly buys a week's worth of food at a time", that's a tautology emphasizing that people who *do* buy a week or more worth of food at a time are not ever going to take up biking (let's not even talk about Costco). And if they never start biking, you're never going to have traffic that looks like Copenhagen.

Like there won't be any blood in the streets once the Justice Department civil rights division is run by a Trump crony. At least if the election is thrown over to Clinton the government will be fighting on the right side.

If you didn't take Jill Stein down, it's not a "takedown". It's just bleating. Stein is still standing, the Greens are still standing, and they're stronger, and more relevant. The only way to push them out of the spotlight is for Democrats to actually do what they keep saying they wish they could do.
