That Noise for the Needy Show at the Tractor Last Night Was Awesome, Wasn't It?

It was awesome, right? I'm so f*#^& hungover I don't remember a goddamn thing—except the bachelorette party in matching green T-shirts, and Velella Velella sounding great, and "Awesome" sounding great, and Throw Me the Statue sounding great,* and a local music writer telling me during sets that he had to leave because the contents of his stomach were about to explode out his backside and he didn't feel comfortable with the Tractor's not-very-private men's room stall.

* Someone slipped me a copy of the new album, Creaturesque. Listened to it in the car on the way home. One of the tracks sounded stunningly simple and all rhythm and gorgeous.

Yes, it was awesome!

The main reason for me was because a) the Tractor makes the best Shirley Temple I've ever had in Seattle (they had a little lime juice or something--delicious!), and b) I had no idea I liked so many TMTS songs. I kept trying to leave (I was tired, my feet hurt, I needed to catch a bus), but every time I turned around they'd start a song I wanted to stay for. "Lolita," the new one called "Ancestors"... it was wonderful.

But, when did Velella Velella get the makeover? They looked like a completely different band than when I last saw them (which was long, long ago, granted). I thought they were a little messy (especially with the last song) so maybe the addition of new members was recent?

Sounds like you had a bit to drink. Who drove your car home?

I so wanted to go to hear the new TMTS stuff, but by the time I was free, Ballard seemed way too far away and the bus schedule much too infrequent.
