Hello again. Last week we learned that Daydream Nation is indeed Sonic Youth's most beloved record. More surprising: Goo taking the second spot, which I was sure would go to Sister (if Sister didn't take the whole effing thing.) As democracy would have it, Sister came in fifth (?!), after Evol and Dirty, which brings us to today's pre-Block Party SY poll:

What is Sonic Youth's most underrated record?

(For the record, "underrated" is so subjective it's almost meaningless. For instance, I had no idea Experimental Jet Set... had a reputation as the second worst record in the canon, as commenter J. Burns wrote in response to the last poll. The designation "underrated" comes from a protective feeling toward something you love, so again, listen to your heart.)

What is Sonic Youth's most underrated record?

washing machine gets my vote, but rather ripped is not a bad pick either. murray street is not underrated, most people say that's their best record this decade, many people say it's their best record since dirty.

listening to sister right now, then EJSTNS, in anticipation.

I'm going with the self-titled Sonic Youth EP. Some serious jams on that, and it didn't even make your poll. It's pretty unique in their oeuvre. I also really like Richard Edson's drumming.

Yeah, I had to look up how to spell "oeuvre." Stick it.
