"The Most Controversial Music Festival in the World"

Posted by on Tue, Jul 21, 2009 at 1:43 PM

You have to check out this infomercial for the 10th annual Gathering of the Juggalos, if only to satisfy your year's quota of schadenfreude in one sitting (the video's 14 minutes fly by like a winged Violent J). Twiztid, Tech9ine, Esham, GWAR (?!), Ice Cube (?!?!), Vanilla Ice (?!?!?!), Jimmie "JJ" Walker (?!?!?!?!), and, of course, Insane Clown Posse, head a cellar-dwelling cast of performers Aug. 6-9 in Cave in Rock, Illinois. It's goin' down, mommybangers.

Book your flight now, Kelly O.

This is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen. Was JJ Walker in jail in that clip?

Simultaneously the Gathering of the Juggalos is the most white trash event ever and the greatest festival of all time. The only thing missing is monster trucks and a mud bog.

Fat dudes in clown make up calling each other ninjas = awesome. I'm sure this would actually be a really funny/fun weekend, The Stranger should send someone to review it.

Seems like a ripe opportunity for "Juggalo Parking Lot." I'd totally go with you Kelly if it wasn't in just a few weeks and I've got shit going on that weekend. The photo opportunities would be insane.

Hmmm, that's a whole lot of apparently successful music business activity not having much to do with what we normally associate with polite, press-driven music business. Ice Cube? Scarface? Tech9ine? Even GWAR? Among artists like "Haystak" and "Paradime"? Severe crossover action and cultural envelope pushing happening, and probably not being reported on almost anywhere.

I like to imagine that Violent J is really that dude from Smashmouth under that makeup.

It's nice to see that after years of being made fun of by articles in Vice and Spin (just to name a couple) that The Stranger has finally figured out that we hold a Gathering every year. Once again, you're a day late and a fago short, you Muslim scarf, ladies jean, 1985-math-teacher-glasses wearing hipster scumbags.

Go fuck yourselves. Maybe us Ninjas will infiltrate your Block Party this weekend and take pictures of you fags crying to emo, Ironic dance, shitgays, garage(garbage) rock, or whatever 15 minute buzz sound pitchfork has told you is cool this month.

Don't catch too much herpes sucking each other off at the Cha Cha while we're outside having fun!

Thuggalo out!

Ninja Junkie, you’re not true Juggalo. True Juggalos can’t read.

Explorer 20

I used to think that the best-ever line from an infomerical was, "I can't believe I'm sitting here with AIR SUPPLY!" But now it may have been replaced with, "Everywhere you look, there's some different shit poppin' off!"

Runner-up: "Magicians and hypnotists, walkin' around that bitch."

And mindblowing voiceover line of the century is this one: "There's a lot of sex in the air - don't doubt it!"

Best 28 minutes and 22 seconds (watched it twice) I've wasted in a long time.

It was my fifth gathering and a fresh one at that. few people ever experience the kind of family that we share as juggalos. few people ever experience where people from all over the world come together and would literally give you the shirt off there back. so to all you haters fuck off, you could never understand us, we know we are the freakshows and outcasts but atleast we wake up eachday admitting what the fuck we are. always remember that oh and fuck the fuck off, hater cove bitch.
