Sicko Was a Band Before It Was a Michael Moore Movie

Local pop-punk legends Sicko have been disbanded for about a decade now, but Red Scare is making sure their music lives on—the label has recently re-released digital versions of their four full-length albums You Can Feel the Love in This Room, Laugh While You Can, Monkey Boy, Chef Boy R U Dum, and You Are Not the Boss of Me!.

Perfect timing too, because the Rain City Mix Tape Club is meeting this Sunday at Havana and the theme is "Nerdy Songs" and there isn't a band in the world that's nerdier than Sicko. I'm still trying to decide which song of theirs is gonna make it on my mix—"Computer Geek," or "Dateless Losers"? Decisions decisions.

Here are some free MP3s, courtesy of Sicko.com:

"Where I Live"

"Believe"

"Farm Song"

You can buy all the albums via iTunes (Chef and You Can Feel... are my two favorites, for what it's worth).

Sicko was easily Washington's best pop punk band ever. They put out a bunch of great albums, were on a fantastic local label (Empty), were the nicest guys, and always put on super energetic and fun shows. Their reunion show in 2002 at the Sunset was off the hook good times.

@1 As was their show at the Old Fire House when they reunited for a benefit show. My legs kept getting slammed into the stage--they were bruised for at least a month. It was totally worth it.

"Bad Year" into "Rehash" on Laugh While You Can... is just such a killer combination.

Pretty great stuff. I clearly missed the boat here. I'll be picking up 1 or 2 albums when I get home (thank goodness it's on eMusic too).

"the juice is loose" made me love them.

Definitely in my top three punk pop bands of "the day". So much fun! Great to see the music still alive.

I was totally going to say what Eric said. "Bad Year" is one of my favorite songs ever, and its sits in that album at that spot perfectly.

Oh boy is this great. Too bad it's through iTunes, but better than nothing. I'll be picking these up.

@2/Megan: I was at that show, as well. So much fun and easily one of my fondest memories.
