Yesterday, it was Gang Gang Dance. Today, it was Holy Fuck. (Dave Segal, batting 1,000.) I didn't catch their afternoon KEXP set, but I saw Holy Fuck's evening performance on the Broad Street stage; I'll have more about it tomorrow, but briefly: they had the crowd eating it up, clapping along and even crowd-surfing to their weird, robot-voiced future funk and muscular motorik grooves. It was great to see such an audience for one of the fest's more outre acts. The whole set was just one noise-inflected groove building to an elevated crescendo into another and another, with the whole thing reaching a seriously ecstatic climax in the soaring strings of "Lovely Allen." There was other good stuff today, but nothing topped that.
