I don't remember douchebags wearing wifebeaters and v-necks being 'dressed up' for a Soul Night ever.

how along the pregnancy is the orange looking one with the gut in #2 by the way?

you know, what I think I find most disappointing in this photo essay, above and beyond a certain end-of-the-night crazyeyes, is the conspicuous absence of documentation of people doing hugs in the bathroom.

I know. The wait for the Holy Mtn bathroom was forever due to the vast amount of hugs being consumed. We need evidence!

I was pretty excited about my first ECSC. I was expecting the best of the best in dress and style and a historical appreciation for the time. What I did not expect was half of Seattle to be there! At least everyone was dancing and the DJ's were tops. I can only hope the khaki shorted, flip-flop wearers will try a little harder next time. But hey, even if you don't - just keep paying your $10 at the door and fill the room so the DJ's get paid!
ps. Matt Hickey did a great job showing the diversity of the crowd. And his intro was classic: "Hi I'm Matt and I shoot shit."

#6, if you want the same DJs with more stylish mods & the rest of the cocktail/scooter crowd, you should go to the Tiger Lounge in Georgetown. It's still pretty new and not nearly as crowded, but the people who do go are pretty swanky and way more dressed up.

@11 um, which ECSC DJs play @ Tiger? ECSC does NOT have a residency @ Tiger at all...and never has.

Sorry, I meant same type of DJs playing the same type of music (plus lounge, mod, garage, brit pop). Should've said that. They have a few DJs from Studio 66, which is also a Lo Fi night. I've been to both and they're pretty similar. At least they used to be - it's been a while since I've been to ECSC.

DJ Vodka Twist is a regular DJ at both Studio 66 & Tiger.

ECSC in my opinion is about rare soul 45s and dancing. I like to see people dressed up and it's difficult to dance in flip flops but all that other stuff is optional. The crowd is very dance oriented and diverse. Tiger Lounge is great, people should go there and buy lots of drinks! Two ECSC did a one off 60s garage rock for the opening. It's a cool bar but not a lot of room to dance. Studio 66 awesome too, but it's more of a mod night with bands. People should go, I do.

Four ECSC members are active classic scooterists but everything else is secondary to soul records and dancing. ECSC does put on a more intimate, secret monthly night called Talcum. It tends to be a little less crowded and more like Soul Club 2 years ago. Keep your ears open for the new venue and date to be announced soon.

Actually I mixed Tiger Lounge up with another place. I won't comment on Tiger Lounge. Please excuse Soul Ape, I've been drinking.

All I know is that Francine and I had the best time ever!!!! We love the music at ECSC and will make every attempt to attend all the events!!! I really don't care who wears flip flops, or whatever...it's what makes it diverse. Just go and have fun and dance your ass off!!! Yes, thank you, Mr. Mike Nipper!!!
