Seattle Weekly Loses Music Editor

Posted by on Wed, Oct 7, 2009 at 7:27 PM

Reverb reports:

Jonathan Cunningham is no longer the Weekly's music editor. Jonathan is a wonderful, talented guy who brought a ton of energy to both the section and this blog, and he will be missed. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors, and are hopeful that his work will continue to appear in our pages. His replacement has yet to be named, a decision Reverb readers will obviously be kept abreast of.

What happened? He's such a good dude. I hope it was his decision as he was by FAR the best thing that happened to that paper. The man knows music and loves it. Passionate. Doesn't hate on anything. So positive. I'm a big fan of him.

Dude knows his history too and that is a commodity in music journalism these days. I'm sorry to read this!

This sucks. I agree with Severin 100%. I for one was very happy when he came on.

What a shame! He seemed to be doing a really good job reaching out to diverse communities as well as just making it out to shows. And a year when Seattle has one of the hottest Hip Hop scenes..

He lost me when he started nitpicking on other music blogs for not covering musicians of color.

Anyone know anything more to the story other than he's not there anymore? I'm assuming he was let go? Have to say this is a big loss for Seattle Weekly and the Seattle music community in general.

Also, I blame Mad Rad.
