Upcoming What Songs Do You Think the Hold Steady Will Cover on Thursday?

The Hold Steady are playing the Crocodile this Thursday. It's a free show, promoted and produced by Southern Comfort, and the event is part of the underCOVER series, where the bands and musicians involved pay tribute to the bands and musicians that have inspired them by covering their songs. (The Polyphonic Spree and Ghostland Observatory have already played shows like this in New York, San Diego, Boston, and more.)

Neat! So. Who do you think the Hold Steady will cover?

In lyrics on their latest record, Stay Positive, singer Craig Finn gives props to Dillinger Four ("Me and my friends are like double whiskey coke no ice"), Youth of Today, and 7 Seconds (see the title track).

Can you imagine the Hold Steady covering Youth of Today? At a show sponsored by a whiskey company? Weeeird. And maybe awesome?

I'll be at the crocodile for sure, but seattle got the short end of the stick vs spokane. I just saw the Hold Steady and Two Cow Garage in a venue the size of the text box I'm typing this into.
Maybe they thought the 2 bands together rocked too hard for us to handle.

No covers except TCG doing can't hardly wait by the replacements. THS went on with Sweet as their lead-in music. Now that would be a great hold steady cover.

They recently covered Sprinsteen's Atlantic City for some benefit comp. I bet they'll do that.
