"God Hates Gaga"

Posted by on Tue, Jan 26, 2010 at 11:49 AM

Lady Gaga's honorary faghood is cemented by the Westboro Baptist Church, the funeral-picketing, "God Hates Fags" sign-waving fundie dunces from Kansas, which produced the glorious anti-Gaga video below.

Thank you, Towleroad.

I love these people. I have long thought that they secretly don't believe any of this and are just some bizarre performance arts group gone awry.

Can anyone confirm that this is for real - I mean, not a joke to make Christians look stupid?

They really spent some time and effort on this. Kind of reeks of vanity... whoring for more of that delicious infamy. This epic and obvious a level of hypocrisy is truly entertaining.

And the song holds up pretty well under their interpretation, imho. This gay's gotta get him some Gaga.

What's so sad/awesome is how much better it is than the other parody/homage videos. These people make being insane look so much fun.

Wait... some WBC member can use a computer?
and can create a fairly well done parody video?
and was allowed to listen to / read Poker Face the multiple time necessary to do the above?

This is, frankly, way too hard to believe.

@2 I think it's the only reasonable conclusion at this point.

The rapturous joy on her face when when she says, "Whorish face" is just downright inspiring.

What strikes me is how much time and energy people like this use creating something few people will watch or care about.

The amount of focus necessary to do this with almost no real point to it boggles me...

Well she can't sing like Gaga, but the beats are still nice.

Do you think "you pissed off God" is a really Christian thing to say?

i cannot believe how hate filled they are! it almost makes you want to be around for the rapture so you can see the look on their faces when they realize they've been left behind!

i think Lady Gaga should play this video as a opening number for all her shows. it should also be on her website. if i were her, i'd fucking own this shit, it's fantastic!

@15 - I'd agree, except until they all disappeared they'd claim it was a trick from Satan.

I thought they were saying "porridge face." Which I liked better than "whorish."

I was raised Baptist (since recovered, whew!) and one of their big deals is NO DANCING - which this girl does in the video. I can't believe this is genuinely the efforts of a Baptist church group, no matter how crazy they are.

It's funny, because it's got all these awful parody lyrics, which are supposed to demonize Gaga and the song, BUT!! Check it out, she's totally rockin' out to the melody. Hear how she belts it at the chorus, how much fun she's having. She loves this song. It makes my brain hurt.

Do the kids at Westboro have any freinds. I feel kind of sorry for them.

This makes me so happy...

And @19, WBC isn't a member of any actual Baptist congregation--they do their own thing, and even other evangelical Christians regard them as a cult. So...I'm not sure they care about the rules that bind other people. That being said, I'm still having a really hard time believing this isn't a hoax.

@20, I know, right!?

Aww, that woman in the video wants to dance soooooooo badly! I secretly think she put her stupid church up to this so she could dance in front of a camera to a catchy song. Clever!

Meg Phelps clearly wants Lady Gaga's muffin!
