Midday Veil Arranges "Garden of Earthly Delights" Midday Veil Arranges "Garden of Earthly Delights"

I love it when a modern band tackles a song by the United States of America, an experimental-rock group who released one fantastic, self-titled LP in 1968 on CBS and then split. Leader Joe Byrd's 1969 follow-up release, The American Metaphysical Circus, under the name Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies, is also worth much high-mind time. Anyway, last night at the Comet, Seattle's Midday Veil did a rousing cover of the USA's "Garden of Earthly Delights" that totally captured the delirious, Dionysian spirit and sound of the original. The rest of their set reaffirmed MV's standing as one of the city's foremost psych-rockin' bliss-bringers.

That was one of the best live covers I've ever heard. Absolutely brilliant.
