Sound Off!, EMP's annual 21-and-under battle of the bands, is now accepting entires for their 10th year of competition. Here are all the details:

Applications can be submitted online at and must be received by Monday, November 8, 2010. All participants must be 21 years of age or under as of March 5, 2011.

Groups or solo musicians from the Pacific Northwest playing any genre of music can submit their original material for consideration in Sound Off! Twelve semi-finalists will be chosen to perform live on February 12, 19, 26 or March 5, 2011. They will then compete in a finals show vying for a number of great prizes including a chance to perform in the 2011 Bumbershoot festival, sharing the stage with some of the world’s most popular recording artists.

Sound Off! supports the local underage music scene by giving young artists from different backgrounds a unique opportunity to showcase their work, connect with the larger artistic community, and perform live at major concert venues in the region. Musicians selected to participate in the competition will also get tips from industry leaders on how to advance their music career, and finalists will receive personalized consultation to help guide them in their development as artists.

Over the last 10 years, Sound Off! has had a hand in launching the musical careers for many successful local artists, including: Dyme Def, the Lonely Forest, Sol, Idiot Pilot, Mon Frere (featuring People Eating People's Nouela Johnston), Brite Futures (AKA Natalie Portman's Shaved Head), and more.
