Seattle's Top 10 Rock Clubs According to the Seattle Weekly

Posted by on Wed, Sep 26, 2012 at 3:54 PM

The tremendously revered Seattle Weekly has published a list Seattle's top 10 places to see rock music. If you're looking for a place to see rock music in the city of Seattle, you might want to have a look at that list and then decide if you want to see rock music at any of those places. If you like the rock music that you see, you could go to Seattle Weekly's suggestion of Seattle's best record store and buy recordings of that rock music, maybe.

"TRUE FACT: Seattle Weekly hired Erin Thompson instead of me." —Travis Ritter, 2012

Update: After receiving an email by the Seattle Weekly to promote the list on Facebook, Rendezvous booker Nathan Chambers asked how the list was compiled and was told, "We polled Reverb editors for their input." Chambers then responded, "I don't want to sound ungrateful but what about the Comet and Chop Suey? We really are thankful to be included on your list but the mix, what is that all about? As a person that goes to rock shows all the time, almost everyday, the mix isn't remotely close to being in the same league as Neumos, the Crocodile or anyone else. Hit or miss booking isn't really a selling point, probably just trolling for clicks but its really hard to take this serious after that. I would love to hear more about this... Again we are glad to be on the list just personal curiosity."

The Mix is the best in the city? On a list that doesn't even include The High Dive or The Comet?

Didn't these fools recently make a top Seattle acts list with a bunch of Portland bands and labels on it?

oh lord, so many places I could take this. let me go the "community responsibility" route:

DON'T STAND/SIT IN THE TABLE AREA OF THE RENDEZVOUS WHILE A BAND IS PLAYING.

you are the reason bands hate playing that club. if it's crowded, alright, sure. otherwise you are inviting a really awkward performance. the stage room isn't that big. you're gonna be able to see the band playing from anywhere in the space. again, don't be that guy.

other than that... I suppose it's good they didn't include Showbox Sodo?

Those fuckers stole my new band's name, Grungy and Ramshackle! We dress up like JP Patches versions of a grunge rocker and punker and do acoustic duets of M/F duets, like Peaches and Herb and Captain and Tenille. I'm fucking pissed.

i bet this list has overlap with everyone else's top 10 list. Quit bitching. Maybe the Mix really IS the number 1 place...have you been there??

Does Neumos or Chop Suey or The Comet really need to be in that #1 spot?

Do you elitists really want SW readers in YOUR favorite places?

This list is not for you.

Props to Chambers for stepping up and saying something. I think I even did ok in the list. Ha ha.

Truth, I've never been to The Mix. Maybe I'll go check it out. Ok, that's not really going to happen, but nice thought.
