Happy Birthday Brian Foss! (And I Am Missing The Funhouse Today)

Posted by on Tue, Dec 11, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Today is the official Brian Foss Born Day. I love-love-love his Sonic Reducer show, every Saturday night on KEXP. I am also missing the Funhouse, which he used to book. I was trying to find a Ty Segall photo, because he is playing tonight with the Night Beats at Neumos, and I stumbled across this photo.

It's Segall "helping" a ciggie-smoking Petey from Thee Oh Sees play his guitar. Oh Sees played on the basketball court, on the ground, with The People. Segall jumped in, and joined the band for a couple songs.

I miss moments like this—intimacy that most other small clubs have yet to match. SNIFF.

Aw man. Funhouse was always so great during the holidays, too. Best Xmas Eves of my life were spent blacking out on that stage!

Happy Birthday Brian Foss indeed!

This was my second favorite Oh Sees show ever (there have been many) after the Wildrose jam. The OCs and Sic Alps at the Funhouse - good times, good times. Ah geez.

Every time I walk by it on my drunken stumbles home I'm bummed now.
