Afrocop – Live at the Stepping Stone

Posted by on Mon, Feb 4, 2013 at 10:52 AM

The excellent Seattle soul-jazz trio Afrocop will be ending their four-year run of monthly shows at northwest Seattle bar the Stepping Stone February 16 with a farewell show. To further commemorate that long stint, they’re releasing Live at the Stepping Stone via keyboardist/leader Noel Brass Jr.’s Bandcamp page.

If getting to that remote corner of Seattle is too difficult, Afrocop play the Triple Door Musicquarium March 20. These guys—Brass Jr., bassist Carlos Tuloss, drummer Andy Sells, and percussionist Jayson Powell—mercurially shift from turbulent post-bop jazz to high-IQ’d funk to deep ambient meditativeness with supreme poise. It's an ideal and uncommon blend of cerebral and visceral musicianship.
