Located in the same Ravenna spot for decades, Cooper's is a neighborhood joint laying claim to the title of Seattle's original alehouse, with 23 beers on tap and a big-ass annual IPA fest that makes beer geeks weep. The space is neither big nor small, the interior is neither dumpy nor luxurious, and the clientele is neither glamorous nor broken. If Cooper's were a person, it'd be a someone who is unable to appreciate the thrill of getting high and playing ping-pong with you all night in your neighbor's basement, but who also would never cock-block you or awaken you by kicking your mattress. (There's no ping-pong, but there is pool, darts, and a jukebox.)
