Crush is very posh, with its contemporary all-white tables, banquettes, and Verner Panton chairs (which have a sexy little bounce to them) ensconced inside the old-fashioned house on Madison near 23rd. (There's also a sleek little kitchen-view bar and a lavender-filled hidden back patio.) The food is made with French technique, local/seasonal ingredients, and modern American style, and it’s fancy and delicious. Even the bread plates are lovely white undulations of ceramic with a little well of elaborately herbed butter. Crush is also priced accordingly, but their tagline is terrible but true: “Arouse your senses” it will, indeed. Take a date, get lucky afterward.
