Dinette is charming, with antique tea trays and golden stencils on the walls; the lighting is lovely, and the tiny bar is adorable. The food is unpretentious and low-key, but also fully thought out, from the splash of calvados that polishes up a big bowl of cauliflower soup to the hazelnut brittle that adds texture to a chocolate dessert. People especially love the fancy toasts, crusty slices of Columbia City Bakery bread overlaid with, for instance, chèvre, bell peppers, and smoked sardines, or chicken liver mousse and roasted peppers.
