Jewel of India

4735 University Way NE

There are fancier Indian restaurants in Seattle and, lord knows, there are nicer parts of the Ave than this gritty stretch near 50th. But sally forth anyway: Jewel of India is the most delicious Indian restaurant in town. The spices are bold and balanced and fragrant, the sauces are robust, and the creamier dishes are luxurious without tasting blandly fattening. The weekend afternoon buffet is lavish—big cubes of paneer cheese, hunks of meaty butter chicken, kofta balls in korma sauce—and the evening entrées are even better.

awesome place to eat

My family and I go to this restaurant for their wonderful buffet once a week and have never been disappointed. The family that runs the place is wonderful and always friendly. The food is vegetarian friendly as well as for meat lovers and is high quality. I urge anyone who likes Indian food to try this's great!

good deals and good people

The Jewel of India is one of the friendliest places I've eaten in. The coffee is amazing, the prices for the buffet are good and food quality is tops. I eat here probably once a week.

Jewel of India is a nice place to go for me or families. They have a lot of food with a nicely ingredients. And also they have mango lassi and chai as my favourite drink.
They have a lot choice of Menu with a nicely atmosphere inside.
So close to the Univ. of Washington in University way, and many students might come there with a special price (15% off) too.
Easy to reach the restaurant next door of Jack in The Box.

A Favorite

This restaurant is truly a family-run concern, and it makes a difference. After you've been in three or four times, the owners recognize you and greet you like old friends. Their children are often doing homework at a corner table. The service is usually impeccable (don't be put off by the language barrier--you will get the right order, with a smile). I love the food (wide selection, combo plates, good prices, best naan I've ever had) and the atmosphere.

Best Indian Buffet in Seattle

The title of the review says it all. I can't think of any better Indian restaurant that has as much selection for as low a price as this one.

Great food at a great price

The Jewel of India is a hidden little gem of a restaurant. I've visited a lot of Indian restaurants in Seattle and this is my favorite. While I haven't tried their lunch specials, their dinner plates are fantastic, on a par with much more expensive establishments. Despite this the prices are very reasonable -- around $10 give or take. The J.O.I is a family run establishment, and the service is good without being stifling. The main owner has a fantastic memory and treats second and third time customers like regulars. While the decor might not be Four Seasons, the atmosphere is cozy and very friendly. All in all, the Jewel of India is an awesome little restaurant. You should go and eat there. PS: Their naan is the best in the city.
