Elemental@Gasworks is great, but it's notoriously difficult to get a table (no reservations, peculiar waiting-list policy), and it's a multi-hour affair (weekly seasonal tasting menu), and it can be quite mentally taxing (Elemental owner/waitperson/sommelier/bossypants Phred Westfall). What you would truly like is a place, say, right next door, with lovely food, and tons of wine, and (why not?) the same kind of loftlike but not hyperdesigned atmosphere as Elemental, and (while you're at it) someone who's the opposite of Phred to hand you a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and then proceed to be as sweet as humanly possible for the remainder of your time there. Voilà: Elemental Next Door, the wine bar/restaurant next door to Elemental. Same owners; same kitchen; similar, pleasantly spare decor; and a free glass of bubbles graciously offered the minute you walk in. This place rules.
