A Ghanaian police detective was once briefly happy, in New York City where he loved a woman and escaped his conflicted feelings about his country’s past—until 9/11 happened and he was swiftly deported. He wants to get back to that time, to that place, and out of Ghana forever, but what he’s willing to do to get there may ruin him entirely. For all that drama, this is just as much an action movie, as our man finds himself connected, symbolically and literally, with the criminals he’s chasing. Yao B.
