I like this series and find it quite relatable. I went to three (or maybe four) Phish shows because I had friends who liked the band. Phish is terrible and in hindsight I knew it from the get-go, but I tried and tried and tried again to like the band...for my friends.
I'm a woman, like (a lot) most of the music she faked liking and find the whole premise irritating and gender stereotyping in a most annoying way. Not pathologic, not sociopathic, I'm not commenting on taste; just find it lame and cloying.
So, I think what most people are ignoring is when the events in this series happened.
She's writing about what happened in college and high school. This is exactly the period when people do things like what she is writing about.
I think it's a fun series. It's refreshing to see a tangible example of a situation where a woman pursues a guy. For me, it moves the idea from, "that never happens" to "it happens but isn't very common".
Bands I didn't pretend to like for girls would be Childbirth, Chastity Belt, and L7. Bands I actually like that some of those girls might like would be Tacocat, La Luz, and the B-52's. Thank you and have a great night.
