Why Animal Collective Are the Perfect Soundtrack for Sasquatch! (and the Rest of Your Summer, and Beyond)

If you would have told me in 2004, back when the band was making beautiful experimental sound-scapes, that some douche-bag "music critic" would write a pointless review in praise of a heavy pop sounding AC, I would have just made derisive squawking noises at you and told you to throw away your copy of Rollingstone, Spin, CMJ, or People Magazine.
But here it is, another crappy review from someone who should be working for EMI or Warner rather than yelping nonsense about shit he just doesn't get or thinks isn't "emotionally rich" enough for his high standards of taste.

i eagerly await the animal collective collective backlash when hundreds of young hispters discover that they cannot in fact play their music live.

#2: So called for! I read #1 and thought 'King toss-pot of all toss-pots'

derpderpderp... they could. But what they call music isn't really music to me. It was basically a bunch of ear rape. It was worth it though, because the Decemberists were next.

Too bad Animal Collective sounded FUCKING BORING at Sasquatch. Every song sounded exactly the same, and not in a good way.

jesus christ grandy...

I dunno how they sounded at Sasquatch, but they sounded really fucking great on Sunday at the Commodore in Vancouver. This is in stark contrast with their immensely disappointing performance at Pitchfork in Chicago last year. While I would and will forever argue that Animal Collective is the best band ever (to me, anyway), I don't really think they are a good outdoor band at all.

". This is in stark contrast with their immensely disappointing performance at Pitchfork in Chicago last year."

that sentence speaks volumes
