While Makers is my favorite album of his, I love True Devotion and have already listened to it more times through than I listened to Brag and Cuss.
Despite being exhausted from working ECCC I went to his show at Neumo's last Saturday, and was absolutely blown away. I haven't seen him live in years (and wasn't very impressed back then), but I honestly loved every minute of it.
He may never be cool enough for some people, but there were a lot of happy people at that show listening to his sad, sweet songs. I'd prefer his earnestness over something more high-concept any day.
