awesome article! definitely one of the hidden gems of seattle electronic music. i'm pretty sure Jerry Abstract, Hanssen, 214, Splatinum and Lusine have all played at Decibel Festival though.

Ian is definitely one of the most talented yet underestimated people in the Seattle electronic music community. His label is visionary, his music is both fun and forward thinking, and he's just one helluva guy. He'll always get love from me and all the other folks at Shameless!

Bonkers was one of the first nights Splatinum played at and we knew we were among like minded people. Defintely helped us gain traction here in Seattle.

For the record, Decibel has always been supportive of local electronic music. If you look at the percentage of Northwest artists that perform at Decibel every year, you'll see that the vast majority of the program and or featured showcases are Northwest based. Just looking at the Pleausre Boat Records artist page (http://pbrecs.com/artists) I count 10 artists from the label that Decibel has booked multiple times over our 10 year history, including Lusine, Hanssen, Splatinum, Jerry Abstract, Sci Fi Sol, 214, Senor Frio, Logic Probe, Potato Finger and Crown Hill Repeater. From a creative perspective, it's quite obvious Decibel and Pleasure Boat share a common thread.

I know that its been said a hundred times and I apologize if it sounds unsympathetic, but when you're producing a volunteer run international festival with as many moving parts as Decibel (12+ venues, 200+ artists, 50+ showcase, 150+ volunteers), there's always going to be cancellations, broken communication, technical problems and other logistical issues that are often out of our control. In all honestly, I don't recall what happened in this particular instance with the Bonkers! showcase, but based on this article, it sounds like a combination of mis-communication that could have been venue related (double booked), marketing related (word didn't make it to the art director) and or operational. For what ever reason, I sincerely apologize to Ian and any of the artist that this may have affected.
