Thanks for the great article, Sean! Kudos and credits also to the organizers of this event, now in its 3rd annual iteration: Ruth Hunter, Christos Govetas, Steve Ramsey, and John Morovich, all of whom are inspiring musicians in this community, and work tirelessly to coordinate 30+ (?) groups performing at this event, accommodating hundreds of guests, recruiting volunteers and staff, and of course participating on stage and on the dance floor. The musical and organizational talent of these people is significant!

Also, another plug for seeing Bulgarite: It's so rare that these four masters come to Seattle, especially Kalin Kirilov (living in Maryland) and Valeri Georgiev (living in DC). Individually, Kalin, Valeri, Rumen, and Vasil are musical powerhouses; together they will blow everyone away.

@1 Indeed. Thanks to all involved. Balkan Night (& Bulgarite) are going to be great. Huge fan of Rumen Sali Shopov myself, and Dragi Spasovski too. Get out there people!

Thanks for sharing a great info about Seattle's Balkan Night Northwest. Interesting pics.

Really enjoyed the subject bands at Folklife on Saturday. I have a new interest in Seattle's Americanized Balkan music.

Please wait...
