I would say Exohxo's sound is sometimes ethereal, but not "maudlin". I've seen these guys a few times now and I have their CD, and they are awesome. The music is well written and well sung, and the violins are emotive and layered, making the music even better. And plus, the musicians are tight, always, which is something I can't say for the vast majority of bands I've seen in this town. I think Danny sounds more to me like John Linell from They Might Be Giants.
