What successes does she have? The headline points out city planning: I wonder if the surge of homelessness and skyrocketing rents was part of the plan? and..well they dug the tunnel so being anti-tunnel didn't quite work out either.

Ms Moon sounds lovely, but raising taxes, decision by committee, and civilians in police accountability IS business as usual in Seattle. A real radical move would be pledging to lower taxes (thus increasing affordability), hiring high caliber cabinet appointees, and getting back the nuts and bolts of what local government does. Nationally and locally, I've grown weary of outsider politicians. We need a grownup at the helm.

Since she's a self-described “systemic problem-solver,” it would be nice to know what public policy problems she's helped solve

@3, if she claimed to have been supportive of the tunnel and wanted shitty city planning that focused on sucking the balls of Jeff Bezos and licking the ass of any developer with a pulse then she could say she's accomplished a lot.

@ And you're voting for? [no one, I presume].

Moon spoke to the need to grow Seattle’s housing stock to address the dire need for affordable housing in established, NIMBY-leaning neighborhoods.

In other words, she intends to take the path of greatest possible resistance, straight into the teeth of single-family homeowners who have the money and votes to stop any plan to increase density in their neighborhoods, all because of the fictional "dire need" for "affordable housing" in those far-flung neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, residential towers are going up as fast as possible in Belltown, and a re-zone of portions of Capitol Hill and First Hill could create many more densely populated areas within easy walking distance of downtown. If Seattle has a "dire need" for "affordable housing" anywhere, it is in those places, where any resistance to it would be far less potent.

I'll take "People who won't survive the Primary" for $500, Alex.

Adamant anti-tunnel, 'let them take surface streets' Moon? Really? Seattle gags at the sound of "subway" every time.....

Please wait...
