Disgusting. I used to work for a private planning company that had previous and current POS officers as high-level executives. These people would sell their own mother for a nickel. Of course, at that time it was Greg Nickel...but seriously folks, they suck.

These loathsome shitwipes can rot in Record Profit-lusting Hell alongside Doug Free Lunch Ericksen, R-Ferndale!

Oh ferchrissakes, lay down your pitchforks, hold your fire and chill for a second! None of these people are environmental villains. What the complainers fail or naively refuse to understand is that as long as there's oil in the Arctic, there will be a port somewhere to haul it into. Seattle doesn't hold the monopoly on ports, nor regulate drilling in the Arctic.

I'm not here to say it's a good deal for Seattle. I don't have a lot of information about the deal. Instead of going straight ad hominem and carelessly spraying the blood of polar bears on the hands of public servants, let's hear their take and give the topic a civil and mature public airing.

@3 & @4: Excuse you, but it is NOT a good idea to have oil tankers in Puget Sound!
BP and Shell have been working hard to expand their refineries, and Bakken crude has only proven to be unacceptably unsafe piped and transported by rail. How many fatal explosions, human deaths, and destroyed communities will it take to convince corporations that drilling, fracking, and exporting of fossil fuels is a bad idea for everyone's health, safety, and regional economy? Asia has already developed second thoughts as the air quality in China has deteriorated from coal burning.
It's all about money and record profits--period.
Get better informed, yourselves, instead of telling others to "get off your whining box".
Read the news---find out what is happening locally and regionally--instead of watching FOX TV.

@6: You make some strong points. Here is my contribution: I have written to state and federal legislators, signed petitions, canvassed, doorbelled, distributed posters of protests and attended public hearings, and do what I can to conserve fossil fuel use by not driving every day. I do not have all the facts, but at the same time, do not consider myself nearly as naive as many others---especially a lot of easily misled people in the 42nd District!--- regarding what our region faces as the reprehensible result of corporate greed run amok. This has been largely fueled by special interest lobbyists whose constituents have shelled out big bucks from outside sources to buy elections here in Washington State. The most disastrous midterm election results in 70 years from November 4, 2014 is a perfect example.
Senator Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, has GOT to go, and preferably in an industrial sized garbage bag.
I agree that finding ways to drop the price value is the only way to stop the madness of oil fracking /drilling and exporting of coal and Bakken crude. Take the "record profits" away, and the fossil fuel industry loses its incentive for conducting further reckless search and destroy missions.

Please wait...
