Democrats have help the majority of control for 32 years. You may not like the Republican bills (I think they are a waste of time and taxpayer dollars) but I also think that about a lot of Democrat bills. But if you look at our financial issues it is hard to blame the Republicans who have had senate control for two years. The school funding issue started way before that.

Please don't vote on party lines. Vote on the politician. Just because someone is pro choice or not doesn't make them a good representative. That is how we got into the school funding issue in the first place. We should tell all our politicians to stay away from regulating our bodies and stick to education, security, transpiration, ect... Next thing you know we will have income tax in Washington to pay for our bloated and poorly managed bureaucratic government.

Sen. Steve Litzow is even worse than portrayed by The Stranger. As chair of Senate Education, he killed 19 good education bills passed by the House last year by refusing to hold a hearing. Instead, he sponsors ALEC bills such as assigning every school a letter grade as a means of declaring public schools "failures," and then privatizing them. Last week, he overturned months of negotiations on the McCleary bill by removing the commitment to fund teacher pay next year, even though he wasn't party to the negotiations.He is a pissy man and is incapable of playing well with others. He has no opponent--yet. He needs to go!

And let's fire Doug "Free Lunch" Ericksen, R-Ferndale, Lobbyist for Fossil Fuel, a.k.a. Mr. Obstructionist too, while we're at it. If these pigs can "fire" the DOT representative appointed by Governor Jay Inslee, then Doug and his pork barrek cohorts can go, too!

I completely support getting democratic control of the senate, but yes we have to face up to the last 25 years of erosion in Education funding, K-12, AND state universities. Most of it happened with a democratic legislature and governor.

These people are shylocks. None of them care about you, or your families. Not one of them votes according to the people (not corporations!) who elected them.

There is no government that is interested in the people; only 'shadow' business leaders trying to control impacts to their own portfolios.

This government is not designed to scale to 300m people, or 5m people, which is why it doesn't work.
