Astronautalis is one of my favorite artists and this here, this very interview, is perfectly why he is one of my favorites. This man, after the release of Pomegranate--an album that is head and shoulders above what Astro's indie colleagues are producing (not to make light of their work at all)--played a show in Syracuse NY at a the Funk N' Waffles; the man has this amazing album, should be huge, and he's playing at a waffle house.

I say this with the most sincerity, in that, as a fan, he made that show amazing. It was personal, it was intimate, it was a legitimate experience--he lost his mic at one point and just red-faced belted his lyrics to us as we all huddled in to listen. And no one will probably ever get a show like that from Kanye or any big rapper, but Astro's doing it and this interview captures his spirit perfectly. If you can, buy his album, buy his merch, support the man so he can keep doing what he's doing--because he's doing it f*cking well.
