My only exposure to Ms. Hazleton is her book "After the Prophet: The Epic Story of the Shia-Sunni Split in Islam". It is a work of genius, the story of the Shia-Sunni split as promised, a great little primer on Muhammad and Islam, and it reads like a novel. I'll be anxious to read her next book and will pick up the older ones.

I heard Ms. Hazelton's message about how 'doubt is essential to faith' in her discourse on Mohammed and 'Fundamentalism of all types' but the only danger of that is that doubt can be deceptive and can consume you if you are not careful(read the "Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis) and faith becomes misplaced. Faith in God supercedes Faith in oneself because one realizes that the author of this life, God is faithful to us...
