Restaurant Details

  • When a restaurant is in the Market, the food ought to reflect the benefits of its location. 94 Stewart's New American menu does, changing almost every day. Produce is from Frank's, fish from Pure Foods, and so forth. The panko-crusted fried avocado appetizer has big wedges of the fruit—crisply coated, lush, warm-fleshed—in a margarita glass with a pile of delicate crabmeat, slices of tomato, chive oil, and fresh corn kernels. The Alaskan king salmon is simply perfect—seared quickly and then poached with champagne. The décor is common enough Euro-bistro style—black-and-white checked floors, tile trim, mismatched prints and mirrors—but it's done with genuine charm and even romance. Tables are well spaced and lit by their own lamps; it's easy to be in your own little world, even if your neighbors are, in fact, tourists from New Jersey.
  • Features: Family Friendly (nice to babies), Good for Groups and Romantic
  • Cuisine: New American
  • Serving Hours: Tue–Sat 11:30 am–10 pm, Sun 11:30 am–9 pm.

They fed a suprise raw foodist willingly and well

My sister's husband, (who has only met me once, briefly), took us there for the five course Christmas menu this year, forgetting that I am a raw vegan. I had no idea we were going as I had just flown across the ocean to visit for the holidays, or I would have called ahead to plea bargain with the kitchen, but the staff and chef were AMAZING. The waiter took my situation completely in stride, and was truly gracious about the whole thing.

Not only did the set course menu look incredible that evening, but the chef made a genuine effort to provide me with a memorable meal and as I was not expecting that, I am therefore doubly grateful to her. I was so, so happy and based upon my own experience and the way everyone else with me enjoyed their dishes, I know this chef is truly in it for the love of food and service.

A truly outstanding experience.

Fabulous

How have I lived in Seattle so long without visiting 94 Stewart Street? October's Urban Eats promotion lured me in for the first time and dinner was mindblowing.

Try the handmade fettucini & crab alfredo. If you don't feel like choosing one of the many bottles from the wine list, try the Brown Bag special - choose from among 4 wines that are described only by varietal, flavor profile and price ($35 or $50). I discovered a new favorite wine but I'm not going to spoil the surprise by saying which one it was.

Mmmm....

We must've gone a good night for our server, because we were treated well. Even if we'd been treated only marginally okay, I'd go back. The food was amazing. We got the avocado appetizer because of the reviews, and it was wonderful. We got the salmon and a cider bitter chocolate glazed duck. Wow. The salmon was great, the duck was out of this world. It was so good that I think that both of us wanted to trade entrees, but couldn't because the one in front of each of us was too good to give up. Did not leave a bite despite being really full. Also, when asked what would go best with our entrees, our server made excellent wine suggestions. Mmmm... Like the Stranger review, desert was good, but a little heavy - I tend more towards light, fluffy, and creamy. But very yummy. We'll definitely be going back!

Treated awfully

we heard so many good things about this place. but the service sucked, from the moment we were met at the door, he rolled his eyes that we didn't have reservations, then he was also our waiter. It was a weekday, and not overly busy. what's up with that treatment. Then he had issues that we only wanted to order drinks and appetizers. We just moved to seattle and this was the worst treatment we have seen here. stay away, maybe the staff needs a lesson in manners.

Young and in love!

I recently visited 94 on a first date. The staff took care of everything we could ever want or need. Just wish we could go back more. I think it'd seal the deal with quite possibly the best partner I've ever met. Thank you 94! Love the curtains, btw.

To be 16 again...

For a "public" place the staff at 94 do there best to keep the peace. I'll admit I've even been scolded for the occasional slip of the "french". It's always with a smile, a bit of a joke and I never take offense. From the first time I joined this small family eatery I've always been treated as a "regular" and I'm sure it's the same with every guest they host. Regular/New/Old/Immature they are all the same at 94. I guess I'll continue to be myself and hope 94 does the same. Bdaygirl I hope your 17th at McDs goes better. My favorite is the bouncing kids on the plastic/metal booths! When they start to settle down be sure to jump really hard on your side, it'll launch them right onto the table. Maybe they might complain to the staff, being so young and imature to hand a public situation on their own. They are just children though and we forgive the children. They know not what they do. Fabulous Food, Top Notch Service and two stars doesn't take away? Where's the 10 star option?

if you are a regular you are excused to disrupt others

I'll keep this short and to the point....I was sat near very disruptive customers....they continuely pushed on the curtain that seperates the sections into me. I asked the busser/waterboy to ask them very nicely to be mindful that we were there and not to push on the curtain. He came back and basically excused their behavior based on the fact that they were regulars. It was patronizing, and made for a bad experience. I will not take away how fabulous their food was, and our server was top notch.

Yum

This is among my favorite places to eat. The food is outstanding and unique and there is always something new to try. The staff is attentive and warm (and sexy!) and they always make me feel at home. I don't know how to properly categorize the fare as it is unlike anything else I have had. They tell me it is New American. Oh, they mix a damn good Manhattan (try it with Basil Hayden). Give this place a try.

A Real Surprise

I happened on this restaurant a couple of years ago. We had a wonderful meal and enjoyed great wine as well. It has become one of my top favorites in the city. It is a small, quaint spot with 5 star food and service. I highly recommend it.

A Charmer!

94 Stewart, nestled just above the Pike Place market, is a superb place for a delectable dinner emphasizing local and regional foodstuffs. The emphasis is on freshness and on expert preparation that allows the ingredients to shine. I've dined at 94 Stewart twice and have had a wonderful time on both occasions. Both times, I've made my meal from the intriguing small plates that customarily serve as appetizers, and included a cheese plate-- 94 Stewart is one of the few dining spots to take cheese seriously, and its selections are excellent. In my experience, dining at 94 Stewart has been five star and service has been attentive and thoughtful. I was particularly impressed that I was alone on one occasion, and was treated as solicitously as if I was ordering for a large party. A final note: the wines at 94 Stewart are as delectable as the food, and the staff will be delighted to pair your selections with complementary wines. 94 Stewart is altogether an excellent experience and a restaurant worthy of your attention.

Favorite lunch spot

I think this is the best place to go for a relaxing lunch after a morning of walking around SAM, traipsing around the market, or enjoying any other favorite downtown activity. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy due to the location, layout, decor, pace, lighting and staff. My wife and I have visited two years in a row on our wedding anniversary. Everything we have tried has been fresh and well-prepared. The lamb burger (especially with the optional sauteed mushrooms) is particularly delicious. And I must say I'm always impressed by a bar staff that knows how to mix a proper Manhattan.

A complete evening

What a wonderful experience. Great food and a wine list that features quality wines you don't have to take a loan out to buy. Try the brown bag special. Couple this with a caring and knowledgeable staff and you have a great experience.

Should not be forgetten

This place is often forgotten or overlooked as somewhere to eat in the market and I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY. The food is amazing, the staff are friendly, the tucked away location is a great retreat from the madness of the market. Eat there - you won't regret it.
