Reality is whatever his Wall Street pay masters say it is.

Don't worry, he's going to solve the jobs crisis by shipping all the remaining American ones
to Third World sweatshops, just like he did in the private sector.

Cynic Romantic 3
I'm as cynical as anyone about what comes out of a politician's mouth (and really, does the fact that politicians say whatever they think their constituents want to hear surprise anyone over the age of 12?), but in point of fact, one can state a belief and still admit that one doesn't know whether that belief is scientifically valid.

Unless you mean it's stupid in terms of getting elected (and I find even that is doubtful; like I said, I'm a cynic), in which case, carry on.

He is a craven, mendacious, carpetbagging, plutocratic empty suit, and I will never get tired of seeing him fail.

@4 From your lips to God's ears, who I hope finds him a joke, as well.

Although... if there was a God meeting any of the more popular Judeo-christian parameters of one, Romney and any number of dozens of other Repugnicants would have been zapped into ashes or salt pillars or toads years ago.

HE doesn't know what's causing climate change, but that's just a testament to his ignorance.
Please, Huntsman, you're not winning this one anyway. Rip Mittens a new one on this.

Supreme Ruler Of The Universe 8
If you guys want a good read, try Too Many People?: Population, Immigratio… by Ian Angus, Simon Butler.

I'm e-reading it on my Kindle and it's the most fascinating story...it shows that the environmental movement of the past 3 decades was...tada...part of the war on the middle class and poor.

Shocking facts revisited...in 1986, in the name of "saving the planet" more than 8 million women in the Punjabi region of India were forcibly sterilized and in many cases killed due to shoddy IUDs and other horrors.

Skewing the myth of an overconsumptive "sprawling" middle class, they write...

real people aren’t “prosperous beyond the dreams of their parents and grandparents.” They are struggling to survive, in a society in which the cards are stacked against all but a fortunate few.

Much literature on “consumerism” demonstrates little actual contact with the world; it typically retails the distorted images of everyday life that are promoted on television and in advertising but that have little to do with most people’s reality.

Shorter version (applies to all politicians): "I'll tell you I believe whatever you want me to believe in order to get your vote."

One thing we know for sure: Stupidity and Ignorance are both Anthropogenic, or, in the case of Republicans, Fox-News-Right-Wing-Talk-Radio-ogenic.

Republicans have a deep psychological need to be told that climate change isn't really a problem in order to feel good about voting for candidates who won't do anything about it. Democrats have a deep psychological need to be told that their leaders really intend to do something about climate change, someday, maybe, before they can feel good about voting for candidates who won't do anything about it.
