No, it doesn't. The only missile with that capability is still under development. Plus, all of their missiles have horrible accuracy, and the long range missiles have never even tested successfully.

@1 is correct. You should leave the posts like this to Goldy. We expect that from him.

@2 He did qualify the statement as theoretical.

THEORETICALLY, any missile North Korea launches could simply blow up on or near the launch pad. From what I've read, their missile technology combines the worst elements of Pakistani engineering, Soviet supply-chain practice, North Korean health & safety standards, and Chinese consumer-goods quality control.

FWIW the US does have a non-theoretical capability to shoot down a NorK missile heading for Seattle:

This assumes that the NorK's missiles are as reliable as, say, a badly-maintained Yugo. And that requires assuming facts not in evidence.

The odds of North Korea wanting to launch a missile, then hitting whatever they launched it at, are slim. How slim? Well, think of Slog. We loyal readers know you guys are capable of A level work. We have seen it. But to sit around expecting that this or that Slog post is going to hit the mark, well, that's a waste of energy on the reader's part.

Quite comforting for the avid reader, when you think about it. Just theoretically speaking, Slog is much more likely to delight us with a clear-eyed, non-pandering piece of writing than North Korea is to launch a missile and hit Seattle with it.

Theoretically can we dig to the core of our earth? Theoretically, yes. I like this game.

Non-theoretically, the United States military could turn North Korea into a smoking, corpse strewn, crater filled parking lot with a fairly minimal amount of effort or risk.

So I wouldn't worry too much about their shitty missiles.

..while i don't really to understand fuck all about any of this. aren't we ten years still smarting over that incident where at least 4 separate groups of people managed to hijack a few planes and slam them into some very prominent building armed with boxcutters all on the same morning ? never underestimate the ingenuity of fools.

The ongoing Bike vs Car War has gone international. The People's Two Wheel Agenda calling for a level playing field was translated poorly. A true comrade would sacrifice one pedal and rotate it regularly from left to right, right to left. Suspect shopping cart operatives have theoretically been sighted, changing the Seattle Alert Device from Warm Deep Grey to Wet Drizzle Grey. It is a new dawn in Pyongyang.

I'm thinking of skipping the Kim Jung Un upgrade and waiting for Kim Jung 8.

I don’t think the third stage of an Advance Taep'o-dong 2 would work. Solid fuel boosters have always been a problem child for countries with patchwork engineering.

Even if they could, so what? They have missiles that can certainly hit Seoul, which for the US would be nearly the same thing.

I have the consolation that if one did hit here, North Korea would be a fucking cinder.

If nuclear fallout comes our way I am prepared as I just watched an old Cold War film on how to survive.
