Is cost really the only relevant factor here? I'm thinking there should be an adjustment for the part where you're in the middle of the fucking desert with 100,000 people and standing in line to shit in a porta-potty.

Too bad that it doesn't pre-fill the calculator with going rates for these bands. Based on Seattle pricing, Jeff Mangum, Radiohead, and the Black Keys easily get you about halfway to the weekend rate. And, desert aside, the Empire Polo Grounds are a much more pleasant place to see a band than Key Arena.

Apparently this festival costs money I don't have. No way would I want to be in the middle of a desert with 100,000 people either.
That's just my opinion.

@2: But then, you have to adjust for limited accessibility to stages, reduced playing times, and how many water bottles you'll have to drink so you don't just die. I'd pay $40 to see Pulp, but I wouldn't pay that much to see just them at a festival.

Yeah, I guess I'm an unapologetic Coachella fan: it really seems like something I'd hate in principle, but in practice it works out very well. In part because the festival organizers are great and fan-focuses. Also because the weirdness of a art-filled grassy polo field in the middle of the dessert after a dreary Seattle winter is always nice.

However, I agree that if you don't like music festivals or outdoor shows, no amount of concert bargain hunting can make it worthwhile.

Someone In Internetland would likely not pay WhoisGuard to protect their identity for something this innocuous.

I'm guessing Goldenvoice created this site as an undercover promotional tool -- which was smart of them.
