@2! Cake is vile. Pie is triumphant. Especially the next morning.

We've often joked that we have dessert for breakfast (like after a large healthy breakfast at home, we will then have cinnamon rolls or something) -- now our gluttony is justified WITH SCIENCE!

Enticed by Bethany's writeup last week I stopped in at Regent Bakery - I had Strawberry Mousse Cake for dinner last night. Ambrosia. Fucking A.

It's not the cake.

It's the frosting.

Avoid the Santorum kind. Ewww.

Way ahead of you. I've been experimenting with package cake mix and homemade cake, adding filling and baked frostings. It gives you something to jump out of bed for and goes so well with coffee.

This study was performed on already obese adults and was intended to find a way or them to adhere to a 1,600 calorie a day diet. I imagine they became obese in the first place from a lifetime of eating cakes for breakfast.

@9, you are the only person in the history of the world to look at a cake and think about eating santorum.

The brain needs glucose to resist temptations that seem good in the short term, but have long-term negative consequences. This is part of the problem with dieting, you tend to be depriving your brain of what it needs to help you diet. That doesn't mean that eating a ton of cookies and cakes and ice cream will get you thinner, just that it might well be the case that a burst of quick energy at the right time might help you keep to a diet better overall than not doing so.
