Is Amazon Killing Literary Culture?

Ten years ago, when I had a series of books published by traditional publishers selling in brick and mortar stores, my bookstore sales were ten -- or a hundred -- times more than my Amazon sales.
That was before Borders folded, but it was also true for all the published authors I knew.
So I can't believe Amazon will provide that amount of sales, even now, if bookstores go the way of the Dodo.

That was 10 years ago. Presumably all the people that were interesting in reading books back then haven't switched their habits to spending hours a day watching "Ow my Balls!".
Given that the best places to buy books right now are from Amazon and Apple and the best devices to read them on are made by Amazon and Apple, eventually people's buying habits will gravitate towards these platforms as more people discover how much better they are than physical book stores and physical books.
