Holy shit! Of course, it makes you wonder, did Peter break her heart by coming out of the closet? Did Ninfa betray her trust by going atheist?

I'm guessing that A.J. wrote the obit ...
Little bit of family dancing going on there.

And what's with the quotation marks around the names? Are they aliases?

COMTE 5
Agreed @3, it's not the usual custom for the deceased to pen their own obituary...

"Ninfa" is an odd name. Reminds me of "Nympha", the woman who lived in our house before us. Folks just don't name their daughters Nympha anymore for some reason.

Well, hey, if that's the sort of thing whoever wrote this wants her to be remembered for...

I would think that writing your own obituary would be how you would be assured it read the way you wanted it to. I don't see it as being any different than someone planning their own funeral ( my parents have done this, I wouldn't be at all surprised if my father has several drafts of his obit written--he's a writer, it just makes sense).

So my take is that Josie was good and pissed off at Peter and Ninfa, and took that to the grave with her. My business law instructor did a lot of probate work, he always said that in every family there is the 'good' child who cares for the parents, and the 'bad' child or children who lead their own lives and are demonized for it when the parents pass.

Perhaps her daughter was just pissed at being named 'Ninfa'.

that looks more like her grandchild, banna. if josie was 94 when she died, and ninfa graduated from high school in 1985, josie would have been 51 at her birth.

@10 - Ninfa can "betray my trust" anytime.

No doubt A.J. Anello was putting his left fist into the crook of his other arm's elbow and raising his right fist while writing this.

I think Ninfa is a Hispanic name. There's a Ninfa who works for Bon Appetit at SU and she is the coolest.

It looks like Peter was well shut of the entire situation.

Rest in Peace, Josie.
