I see no possible reason why it would be a bad idea for a book review site to take money from a book publisher.

The New York Times Book Review has never been all that good, really. The good book paper with "New York" in the name has always been The New York Review of Books.

what Paul? no comment on how this is Amazon's attempt at buying up the review network, to favor their publications in the future reviews? wow, Paul has become an Amazon lover after all?
