I think Gerard Way should get a lawyer.

I don't think I would even watch this on an inter-continental airplane flight. Multi-inter-continental, maybe.

Phoebe in Wallingford 3
Yet another revamping of a great series into a movie using the typical Hollywood formulas. I'm with @2.

Whoa, I can't see my keyboard for all the pissin' and moanin' in this thread... Because, yeah, the original DS is such a sacrosanct property, no one can POSSIBLY do a new take on it... mm-hhmmm...

Sorry, meant to say:

LOOKS GREAT CAN'T WAIT

It's not really a Dark Shadows remake unless a boom mike dips into the frame

Next up, Tim Burton is going to remake Showgirls only as a comedy starring Johnny Depp as Nomi Malone and Helena Bonham Carter as Cristal Conners.

I'm seriously sick of this trio.

Reverse Polarity 10
I'm sorry. I've had what seems like a lifelong crush on Johnny Depp. I will see anything he's in. Deal with it.

Though I am old enough, I never saw the original Dark Shadows. It just didn't interest me. But it might be kind of fun as a comedy.

When is the DVD release date? I'll mark my calendar for a couple of months after that, so I remember to pick it up after it's off 1 day rental. Just in case I think of something more important to do on the way home from Rain City Video, like post a bunch of un-funny comments to Slog.

Bauhaus I 13
Looks pretty good. Looks pretty expensive - and that's pretty much all I can say about the last couple of outings: looks expensive. But yeah, this is tongue-in-cheek Dark Shadows. The original took itself fairly seriously for a low-budget soap. That's why it was such kitsch. Also, DS was a 60s thang. Burton must find the 70s more entertaining.

Not a fan of the original Dark Shadows, so don't give a fig about that.

A comedy? Ah if only we go back in time to the Tim Burton comedies that were actually funny.

I'm not on the "I hate Burton and Depp" bandwagon but Alice in Wonderland was definitely lame. This looks a little more my speed, nice that Tim isn't taking himself so damn seriously for once. Cautiously optimistic.

Michael of the Green 16
The pairing has run its course, I'd say. And I see that Burton has regrettably returned to his signature glowing blue fog... With Big Fish, I thought he might move on from that. Well, the trailer was wonderful, but I'm predicting a crappy movie.

Damn, @8 beat me to it.

Needs more boom mikes, and possibly a drunk grip wandering into the shot briefly.

But, taken on its own, rather than as a remake of a supernatural soap opera, it looks like it could be good stupid fun.

Now that the shock has worn off, I just look at this as a sort of Saturday night live take off on the show, not the real Dark Shadows us longtime fans all k new and loved. I'll see the movie because the original actors have cameo roles in it or I probably wouldn't bother. I like Johnny
Depp in other things, but I never thought he was the right actor to portray Barnabas. I think it's
funny that he said he was going to stay true to Jonathan Frid's portrayal when it couldn't be further from the truth, either that or he must have been high when he watched it. I never thought they'd make it into a comedy.
