Great choice! And if Spitzer doesn't work out, hopefully Weiner will be available!

Where's the option for "He's incredibly dreamy and has a nice collection of neckties?"

Crappy poll.

If he weren't a gigantic Lib, wouldn't you label him the most obnoxious guy on the planet.

Just goes to show that a guy can have reasonable political viewpoints and still be an utter jerk. I, for one, will not miss his Incredible Pompous Comments With Capitalized Names.

He's been good with Dan, so I like that about him, but he's always seemed pretty sure the sun shines out of his behind.

I have mixed feelings about Keith Olbermann. He was the one who made MSNBC realize that there was a niche for a cable news channel with a liberal viewpoint and that they'd make more money in that niche than by competing directly with CNN for the center.

Then again, he is also a hyperbolic blowhard. I wouldn't go so far as to call him the left's Glenn Beck - he was nowhere near that bad and comparing those two is an excellent example of a false left/right equivalence. Anyway, you can't consistently fail to get along with your bosses and expect to hold a job. Keith's best bet is to launch his own fucking website where he can be his own damn boss, and where people who don't like him can just ignore him.

And yet conservatives will still complain that the media is biased against them and they have no outlet, even as they crow and guffaw at the misfortunes of an outspoken lefty.

He got pretty unwatchable the last couple of years on Countdown; he forgot his Nietzsche. When you look long into the blowhards, the blowhards look into you.

Canned from a UHF channel; that's gonna smart.

Tremendous, repeatedly-fired asshole gets fired again? GWUUUHHHH????

Guess he wasn't fired at MSNBC for being liberal

I'm still mad at the pompous blowhard for knocking Infomania off the air. Infomania was actually funny, while Olbermann was the worst caricature of The Angry Liberal imaginable, the kind of guy who's wrong even when he's right just by sheer force of obnoxiousness.

"Guess he wasn't fired at MSNBC for being liberal"

Or ESPN. Or Fox Sports. Or... well we all get the picture

Almost certainly means that Current is running out of money to pay him.

I really wish Olbermann would go back to doing sports exclusively. He was a lot more entertaining and a lot less insufferable in that role.

So, when does he start working for The Stranger? Opinionated, pompous, left-wing blowhard — he'd fit right in.

Good comment but it's more applicable to some of the whiny slog commenters--especially the ones who reside in the Seattle area.

Reverse Polarity 22
I agree that he is pompous and a obnoxious, but he is NOT the left's Glen Beck. He's 100 times smarter than Beck even on a bad day (mind you, so is moss). And while Olbermann may be obnoxious, he doesn't lie every time he opens his mouth.

Personally, I won't miss him, but the Glen Beck comparison is way off.

Good to see you're up and about, Mark.

I was referring to Paul and Goldy, but yeah, you have a point there.

@22, neither Beck's nor Olbermann's problem has anything to do with smartness.

I know these polls are just fun little time wasters, but since this one has a healthy 7 options, how about adding an 8th: "We know virtually nothing about the situation at this point so deciding what to think about it would be fucking stupid"

While Olbermann wasn't must see every day for me, I have enjoyed his show immensely and sometimes he was exactly what the doctor ordered, because some of this shit is so goddamn infuriating.

I think the thing that is most interesting about Olbermann is the amazing talents he seems to help and leave installed in his wake. Rachel Maddow was awesome before Countdown, but that guest hosting spot is a lot of why she has a show. I also understand that he's a big part of how Current came to have a solid line up including Cenk (who had also been at MSNBC), Stephanie Miller and Jennifer Granholm.

Ultimately, I guess getting fired makes Keith the Worst Person in the World, today.

Fnarf is insanely correct--Infomania was really great TV. Current should have made it their version of The Daily Show.

Hah. He gets hired, he gets fired, he angrily talks about how those bastards fired him. Soon, it's just going to be him and a webcam, until the webcam ups and leaves. (He will then accuse the webcam of being inauthentic and form his own web-cam company.)

He's starting to sound like that guy who complains that all his ex-girlfriends are bitches.

Also, one of his tweets yesterday compared himself to the lawyer they made Philadelphia about.

Fuck 'im. Looks like he shit in yet another punch bowl. I ceased being a fan months ago when his arrogance started to really get to me (after being a fan for years). Wonder what he'll do when his twitter following dwindles [insert pic of Keith in rubber room screaming into a prop TV camera]

Being that I still don't have current or any access to it this really changes nothing. For the longest time I've wanted Olberman to release himself on the internet free from all this bullshit. Get yourself one hour discussions with people once a week and put everything up online with ads. It was a good try but current is one of those new stations that wants to try something new each week, Olberman wants to rant and rave about authority figures.
